Description
Bridging the gap to a shared understanding of learning.
The Learning Deck distils educational theory into a simple, visual framework of six principles and nine learner profiles. It gives schools a common language of learning that connects vision with classroom practice.
Designed for teachers and leaders, the Learning Deck helps:
-
Align teaching across the school with shared principles
-
Support lesson design, observation, and professional reflection
-
Provide practical strategies for assessment, inclusion, and student engagement
-
Make learning visible through concise, visual, and tactile cards
Compact, visual, and easy to use, the Learning Deck is ideal for staff workshops, coaching, and everyday teaching. It reduces complexity into accessible prompts that spark dialogue, reflection, and coherence.
The Learning Deck contains cards that cover the following:
- Six principles — three for teaching and three for learning.
- Nine impact profiles – describes the impact and teaching approach for intentional teaching strategies
Plus six sets of cards to help ensure common teaching strategies across the school and to bridge the gap to a shared understanding of learning.
- Approaches to Learning
- Assessment for Learning
- Language for Learning
- Support for Learning
- Questions for Learning
- (NEASC ACE framework)
When these are combined in a 3×3 matrix, they create nine learner profiles. Each profile describes the impact on students when a teaching approach aligns with a learning response.
